Tourist Information
Just Petals is a Tourist Information Point with information leaflets, many on Kinver and the surrounding area together with information on local canals, the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal running very close by the village.
There is accommodation available in the village listed opposite.
The Parish of Kinver
Kinver is a large Parish about 16sq miles of beautiful country and lies in the southern corner of Staffordshire.
The Parish is proud of its record of footpath preservation and maintenance. In June 1999 it celebrated 20 years of service given to this work by, both Councillors and lay members, of The Rights of Way Committee.
The aim of a Millennium project, to have a total of 100 paths signposted and numbered and open to the public, has been achieved. This leaflet is a brief introduction to Kinver's footpaths.
The Edge
This well known beauty spot, given by the Lee family from Birmingham, is now administered by the National Trust.
Three long distance paths meet here:-
- The Staffordshire Way
- The Worcestershire Way
- The North Worcestershire Path
This is also the site of the rock houses now restored, manned by volunteers and open each Saturday afternoon and on Public Holidays.
Other historic buildings
From the High Street and the Acre Car Park a path leads to two other historic buildings – St Peter's Church and the Old Grammar School.
St Peter's Church, mainly 14century, has the distinct advantage of being open during daylight hours. A pictorial display of Kinver's history, can be found there.
The Old Grammar School, is a wonderful example of a half timbered building, lovingly restored and now very much a family home.

Parish Walks
Kinver despite being on the doorstep of the Black Country retains its rural charm, and has a reputation for welcoming visitors.
Leading from the High Street, with its historic buildings, the Acre Car Park situated behind the Village Post Office, is the starting point for regular led Parish Walks. All are welcome:- IO.OOam each Tuesday, 2.30pm on the first Sunday of each month.
The walks vary in length and terrain such as a simple village walk along The Hyde with its metal kissing gates, which takes you past the site of former ironworks and returns past Hyde Lock on the tow path to the lock adjacent to the Vine Inn. Here are moorings and there is always a boat to be seen making its journey along this popular stretch of canal.
This is part of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal network from which many of the parish footpaths can be accessed.
From the Stewponey and neighbouring Stourton Castle a northerly towpath walk will take you to Prestwood and further to nearby Ashwood Marina and Ashwood Nurseries.
Ashwood Nurseries has an international reputation for its work in developing plant species, and for its displays at The Royal Show.
Alternatively a walK in a soutnerly direction, on the towpath, via the Vine Lock will lead you to Whittington
Horsebridge.
From here a footpath will bring you to the Whittington Inn, one of Kinver's historic buildings, which in 1999 won the English Heritage Carpenters Award when it was judged to be the outstanding example of conservation and repair of our heritage in woodwork.
Across the A449 connecting paths bring you to Bunkers Hill Wood.
Over a number of years discussions have been ongoing with both Severn Trent
p.l.c. and The Woodland Trust and have resulted in two new Permissive Paths.
These have provided a safe network with existing parish paths to an area notable for its variety of trees and wildlife.
